DEWA organises a series of activities and during UAE National Innovation Week

Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has organised a series of activities and events during Innovation Week, to celebrate the continuous efforts, contributions and achievements of the public and private sectors. This step supports the announcement made by our wise government that 2015 is the Year of Innovation, and in line with the decision made by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to launch UAE National Innovation Week (22- 28 November), as an initiative to gather the efforts of the government and private sectors, to achieve the vision of His Highness.

“DEWA has organised an Innovation Week schedule, in line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and as part of the National Innovation Strategy launched by His Highness, and the Dubai Innovation Strategy launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to make Dubai the smartest city in the world, and to reinforce its efforts to drive innovation and creativity in energy, renewable clean energy and water,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“At DEWA we have adopted innovation as a major pillar and as a government value. We work to implement the directives of His Highness, to improve government services and performance in all fields, and to encourage a culture of innovation, and to spread it as a standard procedure, to develop government services, combat challenges and contribute to improving administrative government work. DEWA also works to develop green techniques to achieve sustainable development, and to adopt an integrated, innovative management approach, in addition to attracting new investments in the energy sector in general, and the renewable energy sector in particular. We work to enhance our skills in these fields and to improve our productivity as part of our strategy to support innovation, to achieve our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility,” added Al Tayer.

DEWA’s Innovation Week includes an Innovation Exhibition to showcase DEWA’s innovative products and services, alongside products from its partners, other creators, universities and entrepreneurs in various energy and water sectors. DEWA will also host an Innovation Conference, with the participation of international specialists in energy, sustainability, water and innovation. An Innovation Government Laboratory will gather customers, government employees and partners. There will also be innovation discussion sessions on solar energy, and six innovative workshops, based on designing ideas and finding creative solutions to government challenges.

Additional activities include a ‘My Innovation- Ibtikari’ platform, to encourage inventors and designers from the UAE and abroad to offer innovations, through a smart platform that also includes science and engineering competitions for college students and engineers to look for innovative scientific solutions in sustainable energy and water, and other specialist areas related to DEWA. DEWA will also launch a robotics competition for school children during UAE National Innovation Week.
