DEWA main sponsor of 2nd Knowledge Summit organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation

Dubai - MENA Herald: Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai is hosting the 2nd Knowledge Summit organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is a main sponsor of the summit. The summit emphasises Dubai’s commitment to playing a key role in strengthening methods of disseminating, transferring and localising knowledge in the Arab World, to build a society and an economy based on knowledge. The summit hosts a number of regional and international leaders and diplomatic dignitaries. It focuses on three themes: education, information, and technology scientific research.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurated the first conference, demonstrating its success. His Highness has also established the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award. The annual award to be presented during the Knowledge Summit, honours global personalities or organisations that have significant contributions in disseminating knowledge. The Knowledge Summit has been established as a local, regional, and international knowledge event.

"We have sponsored the summit to support the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to establish the foundations of sustainable development by knowledge transfer and localisation. This supports experts, specialists, and stakeholders, assembled in an annual global platform, to review best practices to reach innovative results, recommendations, and solutions that serve as a roadmap towards developing and promoting scientific research,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

"The Knowledge Summit will help achieve key objectives. The most important of these objectives is establishing an Arab platform that enables decision makers and stakeholders to disseminate and localise knowledge. This is done by meeting to exchange views, share experiences, and discuss challenges and obstacles, to promote a culture of a knowledge-based society in the Arab World, and provide a platform, for those involved, to launch initiatives and projects that serve to disseminate and localise knowledge, and enhance Dubai's position as a global hub and a knowledge-based economy," added Al Tayer.

"To achieve our vision to become a sustainable innovative world class utility, DEWA adopts creativity and innovation as a key foundation in all our activities. DEWA’s Knowledge Management department was established in 2010 and works according to international best practices. DEWA has developed a comprehensive policy for knowledge management, strategy, and methodology, to determine investment priorities and encourage knowledge capabilities and creative intellectual intellectual assets to enhance knowledge sharing in DEWA, organisational units, and stakeholders. This was done by building innovative libraries, which are key reference points for individuals, providing all types of knowledge. This enhances the potential and capabilities of all staff at DEWA in a motivating and creative environment that promotes cultural awareness and creative skills to support its goal to become a self-learning organisation. DEWA has also launched several initiatives and workshops for knowledge and culture exchange among staff, to consolidate and establish knowledge management concepts as to achieve organisational excellence and provide efficient and effective services to customers,” concluded Al Tayer.
