Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a number of smart initiatives and services on the first day of its participation in GITEX Technology Week 2015. This supports the Smart Dubai initiative, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Rule of Dubai, to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world. DEWA has launched the service along with an update of its smart app, which provides a unique experience for its customers, making them happier and more comfortable.

“DEWA’s initiatives and services embody the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Rule of Dubai, to make Dubai the smartest city in the world. They also support the Dubai Plan 2021 to be proactive and creative in meeting the needs of individuals and society as a whole. DEWA continues to adopt the best solutions and technologies, which reflects its commitment to implementing the aspirations of our wise leadership to establish the foundations of innovation and creativity, which are two key pillars for a successful future. These efforts enhance the leadership of the UAE as a role model for countries that put the happiness of their people and the comfort of society as their top priorities. DEWA makes every effort to contribute to making life in Dubai the best experience globally, by providing all its services through smart channels that exceed the needs and expectations of all its customers,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

As part of its commitment to being first in all its operations, DEWA has launched a beta edition of its latest service that uses artificial intelligence. DEWA is one of the leading organisations to use this technology, which underlines its adoption of technological innovation as a key method across all its processes. The Ramis artificial intelligence service acts as a virtual employee available round the clock through the smart app to reply to customers’ enquiries. Ramis provides a new qualitative and innovative form of service delivery. It can accommodate a huge amount of data simultaneously, search customers’ records to find what they need, and answer their queries at once. The service automatically adapts and develops to keep up with different customer requests and changes in the nature of queries and DEWA’s services. This increases the service’s efficiency and makes it easier for customers to get the requested service and make them happier.

The updated version of DEWA’s smart app underlines its ongoing efforts to provide its customers with a unified and seamless experience when using it. The app is both efficient and easy-to-use, and combines many features, which enriches the user experience. The app introduces a new and innovative way of displaying the services by providing a single integrated package that provides all the services and features that the user needs on its homepage. As soon as users open the homepage of their accounts, they find many services, including bills, charts, and usage comparison. The updated app gives users the option to add other accounts to their main account so that they can manage more than one account at the same time. They can add a photo for each account to identify them instead of memorising account numbers.

At GITEX, DEWA is also highlighting its key achievements in smart government, information technology, and its smart services to make people happier by enabling them to access all DEWA’s services and complete all their transactions, anytime, anywhere.

“Launching the updated smart app supports our continuous efforts for improvement. It also supports DEWA’s continuous pursuit to achieve leadership and excellence in various technologies and our commitment to developing smart and innovative services that meet the latest technological requirements and are available across different smart devices to ensure DEWA’s services are accessible by all customers. This ensures our services reach our customers, efficiently and fast,” said Moza Al Akraf, CIO of DEWA.

“DEWA’s participation in GITEX this year is a distinguished one. GITEX is the most important umbrella that brings together the most prominent global and regional IT companies. This year, we are showcasing our latest smart applications, services, and initiatives. We are giving away great prizes to encourage our customers to use our smart services so they can save time and effort, making them happier,” added Al Akraf.

DEWA is also giving its customers the chance to win three electric cars as grand prizes. Customers who pay their DEWA bills in full for six consecutive months using its smart app or website (www.dewa.gov.ae) using their smart devices or phones between August 2015 and the end of March 2016, qualify for the grand prizes.

DEWA first used smart technologies in 2009. This resulted in launching many of its services through its smart app, enabling it to complete its smart transformation. DEWA’s services are available through its app, which supports iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows platforms. It also supports Samsung home entertainment systems, Samsung Gear and Apple smart watches, and Etisalat’s eLife.
