DEWA develops its internal excellence award to maximise performance and enhance services

Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has developed its internal corporate excellence award, based on the criteria of the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP). The move supports DEWA’s strategy to provide a motivational work environment for staff and its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility. The internal awards include five main categories: Employee Excellence, Administrative Excellence, Corporate Excellence, Customer Service, and a category with several sub-categories covering services, National identity, job commitment, knowledge management, and environmental excellence.

“We are committed to establishing the foundations of sustainable excellence and its practices by ensuring a positive work environment that contributes to improving individual and organisational efficiency. This is achieved by applying the best international practices and instilling a culture of organisational excellence among all staff across DEWA. These efforts support the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to promote excellence, creativity, and quality. They also support DEWA’s strategy to develop performance and sustain excellence,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

“The award institutionalises a culture of excellence in the government sector by continuous development and implementing organisational excellence standards across all operations and organisational levels at DEWA. The award will contribute to staff happiness by identifying clear methods to recognise their performance and motivate them while ensuring a positive energy in the workplace. This in turn, contributes to consolidating efforts of individuals, teams, and sectors to achieve DEWA’s vision,” added Al Tayer.

“DEWA has developed the internal excellence award to enhance performance in all sectors, improve its service quality, and promote a culture of excellence and encourage positive competitiveness among staff. The award honours staff for their excellent efforts in performing their duties. We have adopted international criteria for excellence at the individual and organisational levels,” said Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at DEWA.

DEWA’s Internal Award is based on DGEP and Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Smart Government criteria. Adjustments were made to meet the needs and direction of DEWA’s leadership to enhance a competitive and positive environment and develop individual and collective performance to sustain excellence across all operations and achieve the happiness and satisfaction of customers and stakeholders. Winners of the annual internal award will qualify to DGEP.

DEWA adopts the fundamental concepts of excellence in its operations by implementing local and international excellence criteria such as DGEP and the European Excellence Model. These include Adding Value & Happiness to Customers, Leadership with Vision, Inspiration & Integrity, Sustainability of Excellent Results, Development of Competitive Capabilities, Building a Sustainable Future, Corporate Agility & Flexibility, and Maximising Benefit from Creativity & Innovation, and Success through Human Resource Capabilities and Competencies.
