Dubai - MENA Herald: The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai in partnership with strategic procurement company Tejari has launched an electronic platform for all procurement and contract procedures relating to DED and its agencies. The switch to the eSupply automated procurement and purchasing portal will allow fast and easy completion of internal transactions.
The new move is part of integrating best practices and smart applications into governance in line with the strategy of Dubai, and the UAE in general. The eSupply website makes DED the first government entity in Dubai to activate automated registration and qualification of suppliers. The new platform has an integrated process wherein procurement and contract procedures are unified and it will contribute substantially to the e-transformation of services across Dubai.
Abdullah Hassan, Executive Director of the Shared Services sector in DED commented: "The Department of Economic Development is continuously working to promote excellence in the provision of electronic and smart services in collaboration with public as well as private sector partners. “Through launching the new system we aim to bring our contracts and procurement management to eSupply, the central procurement system of the Dubai Smart Government. Access to data and information in the system will be provided to all our stakeholders and companies dealing with DED and its agencies in due course. This will create a competitive procurement environment by cutting cost and effort as well as expediting decision-making,” added Hassan.
The Shared Services sector in DED has already managed to launch a ‘Business in Dubai’ smart application over the course of the last two years, allowing businessmen to complete licensing procedures electronically without having to visit any of the DED service centres. “The Finance Division in DED also introduced a smart system for the payment of fees and fines in 2013, expanding payment options,” said Hassan.
