Ajman Supreme Committee visits Expo 2020 site

Ajman - MENA Herald: Members of Ajman Supreme Committee visited the site of the Expo 2020 in Dubai South District where they met with officials of Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee to learn about the exhibition’s overall strategy and offered joint collaboration for the success of the mega event.

HE Faisal Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Supreme Committee and General Manager of Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) along with members of the committee were welcomed by HE Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Senior Vice President, Unified Project Management Office – Expo 2020 and Eng. Ahmed Al Khatib, Vice President, Real Estate at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Members of the Ajman Supreme Committee include HE Omar Bin Omair Al Muhairi, Director-General of Ajman Public Transport Corporation; Ms. Fatima Al Shamsi, Director of Corporate Liaison, Office of Department of Economic Development; Marwan Al Muhairi, Director of the Office of Project Management, Municipality and Planning Department; Mr Musabah Al Musafri from the Ajman Free Zone; Roqaia Radwan, Higher Committee Coordinator and Saud Abdulaziz Aljasmi, Member of the Higher Committee.

Expo officials briefed the Committee on Expo 2020 master plan, theme pavilions designs and locations, local engagement and international outreach plans. Potential areas of collaboration between the emirate of Ajman and the Expo Committee were also discussed such as providing a section within the UAE Pavilion for the emirate of Ajman. They were also shown the actual site of the Expo and were updated on the progress of the construction. The Expo site, located within the Dubai South District, adjacent to Al Maktoum International Airport, covers a total of 4.38 square kilometers including a 200 hectare gated area.

“It was a very fruitful and informative visit. We were impressed with the progress of the work that is being underway. The Committee was presented the master plan of Expo 2020 which will help us determine the areas in which the Government of Ajman can help to support Dubai as it hosts the international event. We are all excited to be part of the overall program of Expo 2020 to ensure its success,” commented Al Nuaimi.

Both Committees have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will define the services that both governments will undertake including potential business and projects that Ajman will offer to support Expo 2020.

Expo 2020 will be the first World Expo to take place in the MEASA (Middle East, Africa and South Asia) region, consisting of 72 countries, with a combined population of 2.8 billion people. The Expo will take place between 20 October 2020 and 21 April 2021 under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. Expo 2020 Dubai will welcome more than 180 nations and an international audience of 25 million visitors to witness the very latest in thinking and technology.
