AL-FUTTAIM’S NEWEST MALL FESTIVAL PLAZA ON TRACK TO OPEN IN DECEMBER 2019

Festival Plaza, Al-Futtaim’s latest community shopping project, continues the development of its new destination, which is on track to open in December 2019. The project, estimated to cover 64,800 square metres, has been designed to serve as the centre of the upcoming Wasl Gate community and beyond, bringing to life a new and exciting growth corridor, South Dubai.

With the substructure works now complete and ongoing superstructure progress well underway, leasing property has begun, with exciting new brands and concepts announced for the destination. Almost 80 percent of retail space has already been secured.

Festival Plaza has confirmed the new destination will be home to much-loved home brands IKEA and ACE, with ACE unveiling its newest concept store – one Dubai has never seen, with thousands of products and exclusive ranges, as well as an in-store café and garden centre. The second IKEA store to open in Dubai will be spread over 30,000 square metres, with a focus on sustainability and an international training centre for IKEA co-workers. LuLu Hypermarket has recently been announced as the center’s chosen supermarket of choice, which will be a new concept, not seen before in Dubai South. The development will be host to 2,310 parking spaces, 120 stores, along with 40 cafes and restaurants and a 500-seat food court.

Located at the heart of the growing Dubai South community, Festival Plaza will be built on the surrounds of the Wasl Gate residential development, including apartments, townhouses, and international curriculum schools.

With a multitude of planned retail, dining and entertainment options available, it will serve as a convenient and family lifestyle mall for some of the most established residential communities in Dubai, including those in Jebel Ali, Al Furjan, Dubai Marina and commuters travelling from neighbouring Abu Dhabi. Easily accessible from Sheikh Zayed Road, the plaza is also minutes away from the RTA Energy Metro Station.
