Sharjah - MENA Herald:

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC), underscored that Sharjah is a major contributor to the region’s government communication sector and plays a leading role in developing professionals in the field with key international competencies. He noted that this is a result of the Emirate’s efforts to bring together international experts and practitioners on one unified platform for the exchange of information and expertise, and to develop new methods and techniques for more effective government communication amid rapid technological changes.

This came during Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi’s visit to Expo Centre Sharjah today (Sunday) while overseeing the final preparation for the eighth edition of IGCF, which will be held next Wednesday and Thursday under the theme ‘Behavioural Change Towards Human Development’.

The Chairman of SMC followed up on all the preparations for the Forum, which hosts leading international communication experts. He inspected the halls designated to hosting various interactive sessions, panel discussions and training workshops, equipped with the latest high-end audio-visual systems.

During the tour, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi met with the heads of IGCF’s organising committees. He thanked them and expressed his appreciation for their efforts, as well as those of various technical teams. He underlined that the outstanding organisation of the Forum highlights the Emirate’s facilities as ideal venues for regional and global events.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi said: “The Forum’s theme ‘Behavioural Change Towards Human Development’ is a true reflection of Sharjah’s approach to participatory development, devised under the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The Forum will really pave the way for a clear understanding of the ways individuals can partake in governance, become agents of positive change and be the bedrock of development and cultural transformation – all through the power of effective and inspiring government communication.”

He added: “We anticipate that this year’s edition of IGCF will herald a new era of positive human behaviour and practice towards government, based on the ethos of responsibility sharing. It will be an invaluable opportunity to listen to the experiences of international communication experts who have launched some of the most influential public campaigns and initiatives aimed at serving humankind.”

Organised by the International Government Communication Centre (IGCC), the IGCF has been successful in fostering government communication in the UAE and greater Arab world, and developing communication channels between governments and the public, since its launch in 2012. To achieve its goals, IGCF hosts eminent experts and influential speakers from around the world to share their expertise and visions on the best methods of upgrading government communication and increasing its efficiency in dealing with the challenges facing the world at the present time and in the future.
