Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Media City, a member of Tecom Group, partnered once more with the Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity (Dubai Lynx) to enable the sustained growth of the region’s thriving media and creative communications industry. The annual event for the creative communications industry in the MENA region ran from March 5 to 8, 2017 at Madinat Jumeirah.
Underlining Dubai Media City’s support for an industry that serves as a core contributor to the economy of Dubai and the wider UAE, Majed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Media City, said: “We are proud to partner with the Dubai Lynx festival. The festival has established a formidable reputation for bringing together the creative community, nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit, and showcasing the best of local and international talent right here in Dubai. With our support for this prestigious event, we aim to reinforce the leading status of Dubai as the regional capital for media and creative industries.”
At this year’s festival, Dubai Media City and TECOM Group presented in5, their integrated innovation platform that provides a well-rounded ecosystem for entrepreneurs and start-ups in the creative communications and media fields. In5 serves as an incubator for start-ups and nurtures their next phase of growth through training and mentorship programs that empower them with cutting-edge skills.

In a drive to support early career development, Dubai Media City representatives offered career sessions that engaged a large number of students. These sessions were supervised by a group of experts associated with the biggest companies in the Middle East, such as DDB Worldwide, Bold, J Walter Thompson, Leo Burnett, BPG Bates and UM MENA. The students were given important career advice, valuable feedback on their creative portfolios as well as the opportunity to network with leading industry experts

Al Suwaidi added: “Dubai Media City passionately supports young entrepreneurial talent, and the festival provided a fertile ground for the region’s creative youngsters to learn, network and be inspired.”
The festival featured a broad range of talks, thought sessions and networking events from March 5 to 7, and culminated with the 2017 Dubai Lynx Awards on March 8. Over 130 speakers from companies including Google, Instagram, WPP, J Walter Thompson Middle East Africa and IBM offered their insights on trending industry topics. In addition, a host of exhibitions and screenings presented the best creative communications work from across the region shortlisted for the 2017 Dubai Lynx Awards.
The Dubai Lynx Awards ceremony, on March 8, celebrated the region’s best creative communications work. Evaluated by a panel of industry experts, this year’s awards featured 17 categories, including traditional print, digital campaigns and technology.
New additions to the list of trophies include the Innovation Award that recognizes pioneering technological creativity, and the Branded Content and Entertainment category that honors the best musical content and collaborations.
