Dubai - MENA Herald:

Careem, the region’s leading ride-hailing app has introduced a new scheme to help keep their Captains fit and healthy. In partnership with renowned healthcare provider, VPS Healthcare, Careem is providing annual health checks free of charge to all Captains serving their UAE customers.

As part of Careem’s commitment to Captain well-being and also to ensure that Captains are fit and well enough to be driving the streets of the UAE, this new initiative is aimed at early detection of major health issues through the checking of vital signs and cholesterol levels.

VPS Healthcare is providing this service as part of their mission to improve the health of the population through the introduction of regular screenings that assess general well-being.

Launched in 2012 in Dubai and now live in some 82 cities across 12 countries in the broader Middle East including North Africa, Turkey and Pakistan, Careem is changing the way people get around their cities through the help of technology.

Commenting on the new initiative, VP of Government and Business Relations for Careem, Bassel Al Nahlaoui commented: “Our Captains are the lifeblood of Careem and we are continuously working with them to understand which areas of their lives we can positively impact the most. Given the size of the company today, we are in a strong position to be able to negotiate special rates for our Captains across anything from grocery items to life insurance. It’s our duty to use this leverage especially when it comes to their health, something that they might often put in second or third place after looking after their families’ costs back home. It’s also important for us to have fit and well Captains on the road so that we keep our customers safe. Having an annual health check is something everyone should have access to, so we are thankful to VPS Healthcare for this generous gift they are sharing with us.”

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Chairman and Managing Director, VPS Healthcare said, “We are very happy to partner with Careem and provide a unique service to Careem’s Captains. VPS Healthcare wants to raise awareness of the important role of regular health checkups. Careem fulfills a commuter’s fundamental needs for speed, reliability and flexibility and it is vital for their Captains to remain healthy.”
