Dubai - MENA Herald: Landmark Group, the region’s leading retail and hospitality conglomerate, has teamed up with acclaimed visual artist, Gary Yong, as part of activities around its Beat Diabetes initiative to create a vivid, innovative social art project. The theme of the art installation follows the key Beat Diabetes message of awareness about the condition, and the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices.
Commissioned by Landmark Group, Gary Yong captured the essence of life with diabetes - on a -6 metre 3D installation that spells out #BeatDiabetes. Located at Zabeel Park, the visual installation was completed in 7.5 hours.
Gary, who has a personal history with diabetes in the family, said: “I admire the work of the Beat Diabetes initiative and the work it has achieved in this region. I believe it is very important to build awareness about the condition. In this region, we all know individuals who live with the condition, who need proper care and attention. I believe we have a certain responsibility to be as informed about it as the people coping with it.”
The installation can be viewed at Zabeel Park on the day of the Beat Diabetes Walkathon, which is scheduled to take place on 20 November, 2015.
