Exhibitions & Pop-ups
UAE Design Stories: The Next Generation from the Emirates
After its success in Milan, London, & Paris, d3’s international exhibition, “UAE Design Stories: The Next Generation from the Emirates” comes back home with a new and final chapter during Dubai Design Week.
For its third chapter, titled ‘Design for Little Ones: Us, Ours, & Others’. Participating designers are invited to explore the world of children and design a product for children up to the age of 12 years. For their source of inspiration, the designers will take a trip down memory and turn to Majid Magazine (www.majid.ae) for inspiration, influence, and a story.

AR Gallery x NAGAMI
Spanish brand Nagami launches a pioneering project which combines computational design and large scale robotic 3D printing. The exhibition will include furniture designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, Ross Lovegrove, Daniel Widrig and Manuel Jimenez.

Downtown Design
The Middle East’s leading design trade fair, Downtown Design is back from 13-16 November as part of Dubai Design Week, with +175 premium design brands from the region and across the world.
The exhibition will also showcase the works of 19 of d3’s very own creative partners; Aljoud Lootah, Alshaya Enterprises, Artemide, Ayah Al Bitar, Bene Middle East, Benoy, Bishop Design, Dewan Architects, Fadi Sarieddine, Finasi, Foster & Partner, Lasvit, Monogram, Nakkash, Pallavi Dean Interiors, Preciosa, The Foundry by Tinkah as well as several d3 F&B outlets such as Chez Charles, The Kitchen and Frame.
Downtown Design will also be launching Downtown Editions, located in a distinct area within the fair, this new element will present the most exciting design talent from around the world, with a spotlight on the Middle East. Uniting commerce and creativity, the inaugural showcase will connect brands and designers from around the world to the opportunity of the region.

Molecule x Peroni Nastro Azzurro
Peroni Nastro Azzurro presents the second edition of this competition for emerging design talent which marries Italian and Arabic cultures, both known for their legendary hospitality and informal gatherings with family and friends.

Nakkash Gallery
This exhibition, produced exclusively for Dubai Design Week, will showcase pieces that have never been seen before by a selection of renowned, regional designers supported by the gallery. Participating designers include, Ahmad Bazazo, Studio A, Sahar Bizri, Sahar Bizri Designs, Ayah Bitar, Aya the Art of Living, Nader Gammas, Eva Szumilas, Tarek ElKassouf.

PRECIOSA Lighting
PRECIOSA Lighting will be presenting the uniqueness and natural wealth of its Crystal Valley through the sparkle of tradition wedded with innovation reflecting in the Crystal Automata – an allegorical transformation of the Four Basic Elements of Water, Fire, Earth and Air that effectively fuses the concept of automata and the beauty of Bohemian crystal.

1001 Caribbean Nights by Craft Café
Founder of L’AYATÏ Anne-Isabelle Saint-Pierre presents a pop-up exhibition to showcase the brand’s new textile designs and new items from its portfolio.

Installations
Circadian Light Synthesis by Anarchitect
Supported by Delta Light, this installation highlights the human circadian rhythm and our relationship with natural light – both from the sun and the moon.

Game of Frames by IV (FOUR)
IV presents a recreation of the iron throne from Game of Thrones made from discarded picture frames from its atelier.

The Mesh by FBMI & Roudha Alshamsi
In what is their third joint collaboration, FBMI & Roudha Alshamsi explore reinterpreting traditional crafts and heritage through contemporary design in various forms. Crafts such as weaving and carpet-making are used to create a shaded space that will also function as a recreational outdoor breakout space accommodating hammocks, swings, seating as well as occasional events and shows.

O. Chair by Superstudio x MOOOI
More than a seat, yet not really a rocking chair, O. is an icon with an identity of its own. The giant, O-shaped seat is as wide and tall as a person, and cushioned all the way round in a variety of elegant, matching colours.

Parametric Surfaces by SUPERFUTUREDESIGN*
Designed by Andrea Sensoli founder of SUPERFUTUREDESIGN*, this installation delivers an augmented reality for visitors to d3, providing a point where two paradigms meet, blurring the lines between what is real and what is virtual.

Real Rain by Kohler
Experience the gentle buildup of a warm summer rainstorm in the middle of Dubai with Kohler's Rain Real installation, using a unique design that uses gravity to shape individual water drops to replicate rainfall.
Location: Between building 4 and 5
Le Refuge by Marc Ange
This installation is the first piece of furniture created by Franco-Italian artist Marc Ange. The former luxury car designer, who works between Paris and Los Angeles, has a refined aesthetic that bridges the gap between art and design.

Talks
Keynote: Karl Sharro (November 13, 7-8pm) –
Title: “The New Arab City - Volume 1, The Gulf”
This talk is an expression of PLP Architecture’s own ideas about the future development of urbanism in the region, and how technological development can have a bold influence on interaction, movement, culture, learning, the workplace and living in the New Arab City by editor, Karl Sharro

Marc Ange (November 15, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm) –
Title: “Creating the Extraordinary”
Bridging the gap between art and design, Marc Ange’s design ethos revolves around the creation of extraordinary objects, furniture and places. Speaking for the first time in the Middle East, he talks about the possibilities when the lines of art and design, fantasy and function are blurred.

Title: Women in Architecture
Architectural practice SSH hosts a talk that explores the role of women in the industry of architecture.
