Global Future Councils Explore the Mystery of Human Longevity

The rapid increase in healthy living rates and the remarkable delay in aging pose intriguing questions within the community of scientists, specialists and researchers regarding what can be called “the mystery of human longevity”.

At the Third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils held in Dubai in collaboration between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum, the Global Future Council on Human Enhancement and Longevity explored the future implications of the development in human longevity and its impact on industries, governments and communities in the future.

Participants noted that the massive and accelerated scientific and technological developments in the field of human health enhancement require fundamental changes. These changes must involve designing innovative models of governance that guarantee maximizing the benefits of the said developments; leveraging the solutions they offer in various fields; monitoring the challenges associated with them; and preparing for their further advancements.

 

The Future Impacts of Neurotechnologies

Within the same context, the Global Future Council on Neurotechnologies examined the future of developments in the field of Neurotechnologies and their potential effects on industries, governments and communities.

Members of the Council stressed the importance of designing innovative governance models that ensure maximizing the benefits of this technology, and monitoring the challenges associated with them continuously and proactively to timely face any challenges they pose.

The Council delved into the effects of developments in the field of Neurotechnologies on various industries, and the implications of implementing them on governments and communities. It further explored a number of new models and innovations, in addition to the futuristic solutions that lie within this scientific field.

The Third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils is held in Dubai, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in cooperation between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum. The meetings bring together more than 700 of the most relevant and knowledgeable scientists, futurists and experts, grouped in 38 expertise-based, thematic councils that discuss the future of vital sectors and develop practical solutions to challenging issues.
