Dubai - MENA Herald:

During the Third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils held in Dubai, the Global Future Council on Values, Ethics and Innovation emphasized the importance of establishing an ethical alignment approach on all future technological development. This alignment serves to ensure that rapid development will not go beyond humanitarian boundaries.

The Council aims to reach to a global consensus regarding best practices and requirements for promoting the best alignment between technology, social aspirations and collective vision of a sustainable and comprehensive future.

Members of the Council noted that values and ethics represent an integral part of the technological development process. They reviewed the ways through which human behavior and practices can affect technologies, and how such technologies are included in systems that affect the society.

They stressed that creating a globally accepted and established ethical model can have a positive impact on the technological development journey. They mentioned that it could contribute to “humanizing” the approaches of those who are leading this model including engineers and investors. It can also further lead to creating a collaborative operational ecosystem between institutions, policy makers and social leaders who serve public interest.

The Council went through mechanisms of ethical alignment including responsible researches and “value per design” approach. It further shed light on the importance of expanding the concept of technological development to include its early stages such as educational curriculums, project values and organizational culture, among others.

The Third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils is held in Dubai, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in collaboration between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum. The meetings bring together more than 700 of the most relevant and knowledgeable scientists, futurists and experts, grouped in 38 expertise-based, thematic councils that discuss the future of vital sectors and develop practical solutions to challenging issues.
