Futurists and Experts Call for Efficient Collaboration to Support the Future of Innovation

Global futurists and experts called for developing efficient collaboration models between governments, businesses, entrepreneurs and academia, to support the future of innovation. They also recommended creating a competitive market that supports pioneering practices and curtails factors that may undermine global growth.

During the Global Future Council on Innovation Ecosystems meeting, held as part of the Third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils, organised in collaboration between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum in Dubai, participants examined the key factors that affect global innovation growth. They also reviewed ways to engage innovators in overcoming future challenges and to harness innovation to drive economic growth and boost wellbeing.  

Members of the Council underlined the need to enhance and expand government and social innovation and encourage community members to embrace innovation and contribute to development. They called for seeking a mutual understanding among world governments to embrace long-term thinking and enhance readiness for the future.

Participants called upon governments to pursue continuous development of resources and human competencies, to instil the culture of innovation and future foresight across the various sectors and to nurture an innovative and long-term vision for policies designed to encourage ideas. They also stressed the need to encourage governments to launch innovation labs in collaboration with start-up companies to acquaint community members with the benefits of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) to the society and to develop a comprehensive diversified ecosystem that encourages innovation in society and at the workplace.           

The third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils is held in Dubai, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in collaboration between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum. The meetings bring together more than 700 of the most relevant and knowledgeable scientists, futurists and experts, grouped in 38 expertise-based, thematic councils that discuss the future of vital sectors and develop practical solutions to challenging issues.
