Dubai Design District Launches ‘Today, Tomorrow’ Exhibition to Mark UAE Innovation Month

 In line with UAE Innovation Month, Dubai Design District (d3) is hosting a week of innovation-themed programming. Activities are being hosted by different government entities including Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation, the Ministry of Energy and Industry and Community Development Authority.

From 25 February to 1 March, d3 will hold an exhibition titled ‘Today, Tomorrow’ at its Design Quarter. The exhibition celebrates innovation across the architecture, design, fashion and art domains. Each section will showcase a variety of cutting-edge techniques, products and immersive experiences developed by d3’s community of creative partners.

As part of the week-long event, d3 and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation have launched the 100 Innovation Rooms competition, inviting citizens and residents of the UAE to submit photographs of rooms that they feel embody the concept of innovation. A judging panel comprising experts in the field of design will evaluate entries for innovation, integration of technology and the materials used. A photo exhibit, held at d3 during the “Today, Tomorrow” exhibition, will display the top 20 rooms from 26 February to 1 March.

From 27 to 28 February, the Ministry of Energy and Industry will host the ‘Innovation Neighbourhood’ event at the Design Quarter, featuring a display of 3D technologies, innovative arts, SME projects, innovation case studies innovation awards, workshops and keynote speakers. His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Industry, will inaugurate the event.

Initiatives such as this one highlight the wealth of talent in the region and reinforce Dubai’s position as a globally renowned innovation and creativity hub.”

d3 Programming

The innovation-themed programming features two main themes:

BUILD exhibits the latest designs and architectural works from d3’s business partners including Finasi, FBMI, Ligne Roset and Living Divani.

PLAY is an activation in collaboration with MUTEK, an international organisation dedicated to the promotion of electronic music and the digital arts, that blends music and technology in live performance experiences.

There will also be an innovation station by Fun Robotics, the first specialised robotics centre in Dubai approved by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) that aims to equip youngsters with the skills to expedite their learning with a focus on STEM-related fields, and express their creativity. In addition, Satwa 3000 has created an interactive audiovisual installation specially for the event.
