Careem is providing customers two ways to help give back this festive season. Through their partnership with the UNHCR, Careem commits to matching donations made by customers who book the UNHCR car type that day, as well as donating AED3 for every festive “Sleigh” ride taken.
As the final installment of the Careem Holiday Calendar, all customers booking the Careem Sleigh car type will be helping to contribute to the UNHCR refugee crisis. For every Sleigh car booked on December 24, Careem will donate AED3 direct to the UNHCR for supporting refugees and displaced persons in the MENA region. In line with the festive season and giving back, Careem decided to donate on their customers’ behalf – by booking a Sleigh car type on December 24, the customer will pay the same rate for their ride as usual, will get a car decked out in festive cheer and know that their ride will help raise funds for refugees.
Careem partnered with the UNHCR early this year with a permanent UNHCR car type allowing customers to directly donate AED3 when they ride, directly supporting the cash assistance program, which provides cash to vulnerable refugees and host communities in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq. During Ramadan, Careem matched the donations made by customers and December 24 sees them doing it again! The initiative was created in line with the UAE’s #Year of Giving, launched by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and is in partnership with the Un Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

What better way to mark the last day of the holiday calendar promotion than with a worthy cause. Through our partnership with the UNHCR, we are able to donate funds directly to an issue affecting people in our region and who are in need of support as winter approached. Thanks to all our customers who are backing us and riding with the Sleigh car type, but a shout out to them to make sure they choose to ride on December 24 so we can give back to people who need help the most. Whats more, we will match every donation made by customers who generously opt for the UNHCR car type on this day too.
