“Pioneers Series” and “Insights of the Future” Attract Global Renowned Scientists and Experts

Dubai Future Academy, an initiative of the Dubai Future Foundation has announced it new series of “Pioneers Series” and “Insights of the Future” sessions taking place in February and March. The sessions aim to share best practices, exchange knowledge, equip future generations with the tools and skillsets to address future challenges as well as provide insights on latest technologies and trends that are shaping the future.

Saeed Al Gergawi, Director of Dubai Future Academy, said: “Through its diverse sessions, Dubai Future Academy is dedicated to position Dubai as the world’s leading innovation hub by empowering and enabling its residents to acquire tools and skills sets needed to take on the challenges of tomorrow.

He added, “The Academy is positioned as a knowledge platform for future leaders and community members to exchange knowledge, best practices as well as address key trends that are set to shape the future.”

Pioneer Series

The Pioneer Series hosted the renowned Professor Omar Yaghi from the University of California, Berkeley, USA, in a session highlighting cutting edge methods in harvesting drinking water from desert air.

Dr. Omar Yaghi is one of the first scientists to be granted long-term visas in the UAE. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recently honored him for his outstanding lifetime scientific achievements in the ‘MBR Medal for Scientific Excellence’ last month.

Dr. Omar Yaghi is the founding director of the Berkeley Global Science Institute, Co-director of the the Kavli Energy NanoScience Institute and the California Research Alliance Center of BASF. Over the years he has achieved many scientific achievements including developing innovative ways to manufacture new materials and use their applications in several areas including biomolecules and the capture of gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen.

Insights of the Future

Dubai Future Academy also hosted a new series of “Insights of the Future” sessions, which will bring together experts from government entities, international companies and youth. These sessions aim to exchange experiences and enhance future skills in emerging technology such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, 3D printing, etc.  

The new sessions included topics in Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Investments in partnership with Dubai Blockchain Center. The session highlighted the history and evolution of money and blockchain technology considering its uses, impact and challenges related to safe investment.

Big Data and Artificial Intelligence

In partnership with Ebtikaar, the Academy hosted sessions to discuss the role of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in various key sectors, highlighting the importance in utilizing these technologies to find effective solutions to challenges faced by the public and private sectors, as well as address the impact these technologies will have on future jobs.

Dubai 10X initiative

0n March 25th, Participants will gain insights and learn about the Dubai 10X initiative which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and how the outcomes of the initiative are accelerating the process of innovation as well as positing Dubai as a global model for governments through the adoption of disruptive technologies.

This interactive session will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about the role of Dubai Future Foundation and in specific Dubai 10X towards enabling government entities to adopt innovative technologies within their sectors, in addition to highlighting the importance of exchanging resources, expertise and collaboration to accelerate achievements.
