University of Sharjah partners with Zulekha Hospital Sharjah to foster medical excellence in the UAE

Zulekha Hospital signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Sharjah to provide quality medical education to foster medical excellence within the UAE and enhance student knowledge and research capabilities. Zulekha Hospital is the first private hospital who has been authorised by the Ministry of Health and Prevention to train and mentor medical students, covering various specialities including Internal Medicine, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, and Paediatrics.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor, for the Medical and Health Sciences Colleges. Dean, College of Medicine, and Taher Shams, Managing Director of Zulekha Healthcare Group.

Prof. Qutayba Hamid said: “By partnering with leading healthcare providers in the region, the University is able to develop academic programmes that realise the world standards for a better quality of medical services and contribute to programmes of professional development and continuing medical education.”

Speaking on the agreement, Mr. Shams added: “This collaboration with University of Sharjah will enable the provision of practical training and accredited researches for the medical students. We are happy to support the integration of medical and scientific resources that will equip future healthcare professionals with the latest techniques and skills required to contribute to the development of the UAE’s healthcare sector.”

The partnership aims to foster excellence in the medical education goals of the nation for all students in the Emirates, while sustaining a compassionate patient-centric approach to healthcare services for generations to come.
