Teachers exchange ideas at the Living Arabic event
Dubai - MENA Herald:

More than 300 teachers and principals from Dubai schools participated in the third edition of the Living Arabic event during the academic year, hosted under the theme "Mars 2117".

For the third year in a row, Living Arabic aims to share positive experiences of Arabic teachers through workshops and interactive sessions aimed at strengthening language learning tools in the classroom, including how best to measure each student's progress individually with systematic assessment tools.

Teachers gathered at Kings’ School Dubai, and with the support of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), discussed a range of innovative methodologies and future practices for teaching Arabic language and Islamic education. Teachers reviewed ways to use virtual reality in teaching and learning Arabic, as well as how to use YouTube to support the Arabic language curriculum in innovative ways.

Teachers also discussed adopting project-based learning to enrich teaching methods by creating challenging real life situations, and providing students with an in-depth understanding of concepts to develop personal and social skills and enhance their leadership skills and creativity.

Fatma Al Marri, CEO, Knowledge and Human Development Authority, said that the future of Arabic language relies on the ability of educators to listen to their students and understand needs and expectations when learning Arabic.

“The success of Living Arabic initiative is reflected in the keenness of teachers and staff who are working towards making Arabic language a key focus area for the future and ensuring that they are in sync with technological and cultural developments taking place in the UAE. Linking Arabic lessons to real life situations will contribute to building a positive experience in the field of Arabic teaching and learning for al,” Fatma Al Marri noted.

Bede Higgins, principal of Kings’ School Dubai added: "We have witnessed a remarkable development in the teaching and learning of Arabic language over the past two years. Dubai schools have been encouraging students to apply their skills and thinking to effectively communicate in Arabic in their daily lives.”
