François Ortalo-Magné starts his tenure as the ninth Dean of London Business School (LBS), joining from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Business School where he was Dean from 2011 to 2017. Ortalo-Magné takes over from Sir Andrew Likierman who was Dean at LBS from 2009 to 2017.
François’ early academic career was spent in London, beginning in 1995 at London School of Economics and Political Science and including six months as Visiting Research Scholar at London Business School.
During his time at the Wisconsin School of Business, Ortalo-Magné grew and strengthened the faculty, raised substantial funds, improved the student experience and enhanced the school’s brand. He brought inclusion and diversity as well as educational innovation to the fore at the business school, the university and within the broader business education community.
On taking the new role, Ortalo-Magné said: “I am honoured to have joined London Business School. I feel particularly grateful for the opportunity to succeed Sir Andrew, who has created such great momentum in the School. I am energised by how engaged everyone is - our alumni, students, staff and faculty members. They are all ambitious for the School and this makes it an inspiring place to be.”

Professor Sir Andrew Likierman remains with London Business School and takes up the position of Professor of Management Practice in Accounting.
