Dubai – MENA Herald: Sailing across the world’s ocean is no longer an isolated and monotonous experience thanks to Royal Caribbean International’s smart cruise ships; savvy travellers are always connected and up-to-date on the latest happenings.

Whether youngsters are looking to stream their favourite music, movies and TV shows, or people are looking to post as many envy-inducing vacation photos to Instagram or Snapchat accounts, or perhaps video-chat with loved ones back home using FaceTime or Skype; all travellers can share their adventures in real time with family and friends.
Known for having the most innovative ships at sea, the cruise line has made a significant investment to enhance the guests’ experience by outfitting its newest smart ships with the latest and most advanced technology. The ships have installed VOOM, the fastest internet at sea that provides all guests with the high-speed internet they expect. This innovative technology uses a satellite that targets each ship individually, and the high-speed connection means that surfing, streaming and sharing is faster and easier than ever before, no matter where in the world you are.
Technology is even playing a part in helping guests receive the full travel experience every morning, no matter which type of accommodation they choose. Royal Caribbean International has installed cutting-edge virtualbalcony technology in every interior stateroom onboard Quantum of the Seas, which showcases a magnificent ocean view and scenery from the destination ports.
Robots drive another entertaining feature, and guests can find droids serving up delicious concoctions at the Bionic Bar. Designed by the creative minds at Makr Shakr, Bionic Bar is set to make waves with robots taking centre stage. Guests place orders via tablets and then have fun watching robotic bartenders work their magic at mixing cocktails. Furthermore, Two70 is home to a playful and agile troupe of six Robo-screens that stage surprise performances during every cruise, creating scenes while soaring and twisting solo, or uniting as one. Guests will also experience Vistarama, floor-to-ceiling glass walls that transform into an expansive ambient surface that projects any scene, real or imagined, including the multidimensional performance spectacle, Starwater.
Royal Caribbean aims to provide a stress-free and seamless excursion from the moment the ticket is booked to the moment guests return home through RFID WOWband technology and Royal IQ App. The waterproof rubber wristbands include built-in chips, which double as a room key and the SeaPass card, which can be used to make purchases onboard, meaning safe use of money and less to carry while exploring the ship. The IQ App will allow passengers to take control of their holiday from start to finish, from booking shore excursions to planning their time onboard, and it can be downloaded from the app store in iOS or Android for the smartphone or tablet. Once logged in, users can plan their time, book tables at restaurants, reserve onboard activities, schedule entertainment, book shore excursions and view the Daily Cruise Compass. Guests can also manage their details, view their programme and keep in touch via phone or text at the free-standing iQ stations that are dotted around the ship.
Smart living is a huge part of the Royal Caribbean experience no matter which ship, and mind-blowing technology can be found at every turn. Everything is designed to make the guests’ experience interesting, easy - and simply fun.
