Chinese automobile giant ‘GAC MOTOR’ set to enter Dubai International Motor show

Saturday 31 October 2015

Dubai - MENA Herald: GAC MOTOR, one China’s leading automobile giants, would be participating at the Dubai International Motor Show 2015 for the very first time. The company is already working with Gargash Motors and they are the sole distributor of GAC cars in Dubai, UAE. GAC MOTOR was also the brand that sponsored the blockbuster The Transformers: Age of Extinction in 2014. GAC MOTOR will be unveiling their cars at the press conference on November 10th at 5:00pm.

“GAC MOTOR is aiming to fastrack its global expansion strategy. UAE and the greater Middle Eastern region is an integral part of our growth strategy. We are coming here for the first time at the show.  However, we are well versed with this market through our local partner – Gargash Motors,” said Wu Song, General Manager and Board Member, GAC MOTOR.

“We are optimistic about the fact that our products will be a name synonymous with car enthusiasts in the UAE in the coming years.  Chinese cars are already a talk amongst the middle income group of expats as they deliver on performance, are comparable on prices and have a low cost of maintenance. We are confident that the future of Chinese brands like ours is bright and we are aiming for significant sales revenue from these markets. Chinese passenger cars arrived into the UAE market few years ago and the initial results are encouraging,” added Mr. Wu.

In recent times, Chinese automobile makers are changing the trend and making a foray into the UAE four-wheeler automobile markets as they feature premium elite state of the art cars.

“The consumers here have preferred to buy cars from Japan, Germany, US and Korea in the past but we are here to change the equation and realign the market dynamics with our high quality and technologically advanced cars. We are here to create a new era for Chinese cars and lead that space. We are delighted to be at the Dubai International Motor show to connect with discerning automobile enthusiasts,” added Mr. Wu.

GAC MOTOR, GAC Group's subsidiary of own-brand passenger vehicles, made public its global strategies at the beginning of 2014, which is to first tap the markets in the Middle East, Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and then try to expand into the established markets such as North America and Europe.

GAC MOTOR had also recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Bahrain's Tasheelat Automotive Company in the earlier part of this year.  GAC Group is one of the sixth largest automakers in China. The brand has a complete industrial chain in six segments, namely passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, components, auto finance, insurance, trade and services, as well as research and development.

GAC Group sold 1, 172, 310 vehicles in 2014, up 16.69% year on year. It remained among the Fortune 500 in 2014, rising 117 places from 2013. Trumpchi, its own brand, beats all other Chinese brands in the J.D. Power Asia-Pacific IQS.

In November 2014, GAC Group and Fiat Chrysler Group announced their plan to localize Chrysler models in China, adding to the current Fiat and Jeep products. The two sides also decided to establish an independent sales company. GAC Group released its "3+e" strategies in 2014 including its own-brand development, its partnership of the Japanese brands, and its cooperation with the European and American brands, plus a brand-new e-commercial strategy, in order to enhance the company's overall competitiveness by integrating all its resources.
